LoadHoller

Editorial policy

Updated October 2026

LoadHoller publishes rate guides, market figures and calculators for carriers. This is how we research them, date them and keep them honest.

Where the numbers come from

Market figures come from public sources first: USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service truck rate reports, the Bureau of Labor Statistics producer price indexes, the Energy Information Administration's diesel prices, the Cass Transportation Index, ATA's tonnage index, ATRI's operating cost research and the Freight Analysis Framework from BTS and FHWA. Rate data companies appear only through their own free public releases, quoted and linked.

We don't copy paid dashboards or scrape data we aren't allowed to use. If no current public figure exists, the page says so instead of guessing.

Every figure carries a date

  • Each figure shows its source, a link, the period it describes and the date we checked it.
  • We always state the basis: per loaded mile or all-in, linehaul or including fuel, per mile or per load.
  • Forecasts appear only as quotes, with the forecaster's name and date. We don't publish our own predictions about where rates are going.
  • Weekly figures are refreshed weekly, monthly ones monthly, and yearly reports once a year. A figure we can't refresh is updated or removed, never left looking current.

How we check load boards and apps

Before we describe a load board, app or carrier program, we read the company's own website and record only what it states there, with the date. We confirm the service is still operating. We state our criteria before any list, and we don't invent tests, rankings, ratings or reviews. Anything we couldn't confirm is marked not verified. We recheck each one at least once a year.

Examples, regulations and authorship

Made-up postings and dollar amounts are labeled EXAMPLE and use round numbers. Regulation pages cite the rule, such as the section of 49 CFR, with the date we checked it, and are not legal advice. Guides and calculators are written for owner-operators and small fleets by Jeff Davidson, dispatcher at LoadHoller. We don't invent credentials, testimonials or results.

Corrections

If you see an error, or you run a company we describe and something has changed, tell us through our contact page and pick "A correction to one of our pages". We check the source and fix the page, and the updated date changes with it. Our disclosure page lists every partner that may pay us.
